Staring at the Sky and the Screen

Dreaming of Other Celestial Bodies
Wondering What They're Looking at
Breaking Branches and Bending Grids
Measuring Half-lives on the Horizon

Artist's Statement

Early Morning with Fog Droplets Condensing on my iPhone, Duratrans lightbox, 2014.

I woke up one morning and I could barely see through the thick fog.
It seemed to be raining, but just ever so slightly: fine misty droplets.
The day was grey, and I walked along the path toward the river,
I came to the spot where I knew there was a vista across the river,
the sky seemed to open up, while simultaneously being obfuscated,
that thick fog. I held my camera in front of my face and stared into it.
As I started taking photographs, tiny droplets fell onto the screen,
little RGB gems formed on the landscape, like round gridded rainbows.
