After Hokusai and Sugimoto: Wave on a Calm Day, Made from Curved Film
, Digital c-print, 2014.

A sheet of 4x5 film was carefully curved to make this photograph.
I curved the film the long way, so the height of the wave was 40mm,
Thus, the edges of the film were 40mm closer to the lens than the center.
I focused so the focal plane passed through the film twice:
Once at 42mm across and again at 84mm across (the long way).
I photographed the horizon on a very calm and peaceful day,
with my Schneider-Kreuznach Super-Angulon 90mm at f/5.6 for 1/500th.
